Our quiet Sunday afternoon was interrupted by a brush fire at my parents home. I have a whole new appreciation for the term "spread like wildfire" and also a better understanding of the fires in California and why they were so hard to contain! We had 3 police cars, 3 fire departments, and the forest preserve all come to contain it.

My brother overheard a fireman say "It doesn't take a genius to see where this fire started."

That moved fast! Thank goodness every one was safe.
Yes, fires are scary. We lived through the Cali fires. They, luckily, only came within 15 miles or so of our house but it was so scary to watch. Our friend's husband is a firefighter. He was gone for 8 days straight before he finally got to come home for a half of a day. Every night he slept in the backyard of an evacuated house. So glad your family is safe!
Glad that no one and no property was damaged.
